Board of Selectmen
The Board of Selectmen serves as the main governing body for our town, overseeing the implementation of local laws, policies, and services. Their decisions touch every aspect of community life, from public safety to infrastructure. In a small town like ours, the Board of Selectmen is key to maintaining the quality of life and the local character we all cherish.
First Selectman:
Eden Wimpheimer
I am running for First Selectman because I was raised in a family who gives back to our country, state, and town. East Granby is a rural town steeped in rich history and tradition; however, it must continue to move forward. My plan is to work to create a more cost-effective infrastructure, strengthen the school system, improve our tax structure, and support small businesses, the backbone of our community.
Selectmen:
Steve Hall
Steve came to East Granby in 1974 he attended and Graduated from East Granby High school and Continued his education at American International College completing a Bachelor of Science program majoring in Criminal Justice in 1987. In this small town he learned the value of service to the community early.
Board of Education
The Board of Education is the backbone of our local schools, setting policies and budgets that shape our children's futures. In a small town like ours, every decision made by the board directly impacts the quality of education and resources available to our students.
Whitney Burns
Whitney Burns and her husband settled in East Granby in 2013 to raise their family. Whitney now has two children in the East Granby school district, both have been enrolled in toddler programs to now Seymour elementary. Whitney loves to have her children actively engaged in the community, participating in various events
Carole Margolis
Carole moved to East Granby in 2021 with her husband, Bob, and quickly found a sense of belonging in the community. A lifelong resident of Farmington Valley, Carole earned her degree in Elementary and Special Education from Saint Joseph College.
Board of Finance
Financial stewardship is critical to a community's well-being. The Board of Finance ensures responsible budgeting and oversight of public funds. Their work impacts everything from public services to tax rates, helping to maintain the quality of life we value so much in our town.
Todd Springer
Todd, a Connecticut native, has been a resident of East Granby since 1996. Alongside his wife, he has raised two daughters who attended the East Granby school system from Allgrove Elementary through to their graduations from East Granby High School in 2020 and 2022.
Chris Cochran
Chris was born in Pomona, California, and relocated at a young age to Manchester, CT, where he was raised. In early 2019, he and his wife Lani began searching for a small town that offered good schools and inviting neighborhoods for their blended family. They found everything they were looking for in East Granby, where they moved in August of 2020.
Planning and Zoning
Planning and Zoning plays a crucial role in shaping the physical and economic landscape of our community. Through careful planning and regulation, this board ensures that development aligns with the town's long-term vision, preserving its character while fostering sustainable growth.
Tom Derlinga
Tom has lived in East Granby since 1989 with his wife, Roxanne, on Wynding Hills Road, where they raised their two daughters. He has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hartford. He is currently a partner in an engineering firm specializing in industrial controls.
